raf does not know who bribed a jury member in the recent VAT trails in the City

Rumours are told that in the carbon VAT fraud this week things did not really went that well. Bribery in british courts? Raf cannot believe that! Not in the city, where milk and honey is flowing!

And even if raf would know about any of whereabouts it shouldn’t publish it. Otherwise raf faces the expressively reserved legal actions. Again. Write this, erase that, lots of paper exchanged, my client here, our client there.

Does Guenther own a crystal ball? – Why a bustard may drive the EUA price

The majestic Great Bustard, raley found on the great plains of Hungary, a smart, humorous and very well articulated football bookwriter, JI activist and successful carbon man, services a tight relationship with Guenther. They seem to get along well with each other, a symbiotic love-hate that

The carbon market ruins indigent ghetto families and the redesign of rumoursandfacts

EUAs fall and rebound and fall again, contributors are mad at rumoursandfacts, fear of a gas explosion in the north sea, TEP takes huge asset writedown, and after sun comes rain again. What a crazy week!

It seems that carbon people are feed up with this tensed, low marging carbon market conditions these days. EU Commission postboned hoax trialogue kidding the journalists – Take it easy Thompson Reuters!

Dear Point Carbon, from the very first day you popped into the life of the carbon people, you have been the mecca for our hunger for information. You grew fast and you became the central entity for information and knowledge. Yet the days passed and you merged your enthusiastic startup into a mainstream, conservative news provider. Your easy going and hungry ways of spreading information through the carbon world were suddenly changed to satisfying the . . . → Read More: EU Commission postboned hoax trialogue kidding the journalists – Take it easy Thompson Reuters!

Informal EU Trialogue will result in Hot Air – even more than Trevor, Mark and all the others have already produced

PC’s Andrew Allen calls it the “make or break” time, neatly introduced with a “could” in the beginning. An informal trialogue does also not sound so informal anymore though, if half of the carbon community is talking about that. So what is BarCap’s aim to issue a hot air speculation paper about possible outcomes of an ‘informal’ meeting, that may set some guidance for the EU, but definetly not be the “make or break”?

Let . . . → Read More: Informal EU Trialogue will result in Hot Air – even more than Trevor, Mark and all the others have already produced

EEX’s move in the (Russian) ERU market – A dead born child

EEX has shown multiple times in the past that they are moving on something different then a high pace. Now, realizing that the Joint Implementation World is close to dead by the end of the Kyoto committment period EEX brings up a new ERU contract. Do they soley rely on the Russian promise to issue many many ERU’s in 2012? Did Russia perform any of their JI and ERU promisses in the past? No, they . . . → Read More: EEX’s move in the (Russian) ERU market – A dead born child

Thoughts on EU Government’s Intervention : Strengthening the EU ETS or fight fire with fire?

UK based Climate Strategies offer a new set of measures on how to heal all their identified EU ETS problems: Tighter GHG target, lower ETS cap, Set-Aside, Reserve Price Auction and National price floors & contracts. Skimming through their report I happen to think about an medievial carbon war armory:

“EU Governments, lets get together and squezze this last penny out of our industrials and utilities! They have to understand that in times of recession . . . → Read More: Thoughts on EU Government’s Intervention : Strengthening the EU ETS or fight fire with fire?

Dance the EU ETS Carbon Limbo : How low can you get?

Ben Garside comments on the likelyhood of the EU finding a solution to strengthen the EU ETS price levels by finding a mechanism to establish a back-door EU carbon valve. Here a quick summary:

Most likely scenario: NO ACTION THIS YEAR (as usually)

Responsible Commissioner: CONNIE HEDEGAARD (as in the Copenhagen failure)

Carbon Fossil of the week: POLAND (as usually)

So what do we learn? Pretty much nothing, only the financials race the EUA price . . . → Read More: Dance the EU ETS Carbon Limbo : How low can you get?

How to calculate Canada’s penalty for not meeting the Kyoto Protocol target

Frankly speaking I am trying to find that out since more than 10 years. And now environmental minister Mr Kent from Canada spat out the big number of penalties equivalent to C$14 billion ($13.6 billion) under the terms of the treaty for not cutting emissions by the required amount by 2012.

But which terms is he refering to? As far as I am aware there are no sanction mechanims whatsoever in the Kyoto Protocol. The . . . → Read More: How to calculate Canada’s penalty for not meeting the Kyoto Protocol target

Thin news from sunny Durban: Will Russians accept COP 18 in Quatar?

Dear Point Carbon News, just so you don’t get it wrong and blame R&F afterwards for placing facts in the rumour category and via versa: This is a Rumour! So buy the rumour and sell only after the fact is following.

It is being said that the ambassador of Russia in Quatar has not been treated that well in the past, most probably because of issues relating to oil and gas deliveries. Therefore it is . . . → Read More: Thin news from sunny Durban: Will Russians accept COP 18 in Quatar?
